Essie Mitchell - Head of Digital and Product, Discovery Data Company.
A unique start to the industry, Essie first established her career in publishing for some of the top publishers around, such as; Penguin Random House, Hachette Livre, and Harper Collins, working in Digital Sales and as Head of Digital; managing internal projects, optimising existing business processes, catering for digital products, methodologies, big data analytics, and account management.
A decade on, Essie is now the lead for the Digital and Product team at Discovery Data, a digital advisory and technology solutions company, where her role is to ensure clients' projects are delivered on time and budget, while also overseeing the design and experience team.
Discovery Data is working at the forefront of digital transformation - by developing custom software, data systems, and digital applications to improve their clients' workflows, and their customer and employee experiences.
"Discovery Data has an agnostic approach to industry, as we like to keep abreast of advancing technology in all sectors in WA. The energy sector, economically, is a significant part of the local and national economy and it is vital for us to be involved. I see substantial opportunity for digital transformation in this sector and enjoy having the opportunity to support companies in optimising processes and practices through digital process adoption", says Essie.
An active member of the Petroleum Club of WA community, what initially enticed her to join was the opportunity to meet with a diverse range of industry professionals. "The energy sector is a global industry, and in an isolated city like Perth - it's a truly multicultural environment to be a part of," says Essie.
Outside of work, Essie enjoys spending as much time as possible with family and friends, sampling a cheeky glass of wine and dabbling in some photography.
