The Energy Club of WA is an industry network and educational resource for the energy sector in Western Australia.
We are a membership-based not-for-profit organisation comprising of members from all areas of the industry and associated service providers.
We value the role we play in connecting people within the Energy industry, connecting the “Next Generation” in education to inspire their career pathways and connecting people to promote knowledge sharing amongst their peers.
Our core objective is to provide a professional platform in which industry stakeholders can unite to facilitate continued growth and sustainability within the sector.
Our activities are designed to create an environment where members can mix both professionally and socially in order to facilitate
long term associations and business opportunities, and an arena for promoting continued professional development, education
and public awareness.
Celebrating our History
The Petroleum Club of WA was established in 1966 by an enthusiastic group of Explorers who believed there was a need to set up a facility that provided the opportunity for networking and information exchange.
The very first official Petroleum Club Dinner meeting was held on Tuesday 10th January 1967 at the Ocean Beach Hotel at a cost of $3.00 per person. How times have changed!
Although the groundwork for the Club's establishment had been conducted almost exclusively by explorers, it was agreed that the Club membership should be expanded to include all persons who had an interest in the Oil and Gas industry, rather than be limited to geoscientists; and thus the evolution of an organisation.
The industry and organisation have continued to evolve over the past 55 years. As our petroleum industry has matured, we have seen the Club grow and accommodate the needs of a greater diversity of members, without losing sight of its original objectives. The club is extremely proud of its heritage yet recognises that its offerings have progressed to reflect the industry's trajectory towards a more inclusive, sustainable and low-carbon future.
In March, 2021, the members decided to rebrand and move forward as Energy Club WA so that the brand reflects the continued promise of connecting people with energy for a sustainable future.
