Yael Bernasconi – Group Marketing Manager, Tasman Oil Tools
Yael graduated from the National University of Córdoba, Argentina, with a degree in BSc E (Hons), Chemical Engineering and has been in the oil and gas industry since 2006.
Starting as a cementing field engineer and WBI and WBC operations engineer with Schlumberger and Baker Hughes, respectively, she gained experience across cementing services, wellbore construction and intervention operations.
Yael joined Tasman Oil Tools (Tasman) in 2012 as Business Development Manager and has continued to progress in the company.
Specialising in the rental of drilling tools suitable for use in onshore and offshore oil and gas drilling, coal bed methane and geothermal drilling operations, Tasman has developed an understanding of its clients' requirements which drives its philosophy of operational excellence in Australia and New Zealand.
Within her role as Business Development Manager, Yael had many achievements including securing new business from several major operators which were previously unobtainable, broadening the client base by 15% and exceeding sales and turnover targets by 25% in the first and second years.
She was instrumental in the launch of the new Tasman Oil Tools website, social media platforms, company exhibitions, company advertisement and marketing materials.
After two years in the role, she became the Marketing Manager for Tasman Australia, New Zealand, and the Middle East.
“I successfully developed and implemented the company's rebranding strategy plan which included the relaunch of the Tasman Group website, attracting new customers and raising the business' global profile,” Yael said.
She was also responsible for the Tasman Group's global marketing initiatives, including the development of a marketing strategy and plan, bi-annual marketing research and analysis, as well as all aspects of social media and website updates.
In addition to this, she assisted with the preparation of budgetary proposals for tender submissions in Australia.
In 2016 she added the responsibility of sales management for Tasman Australia where she managed all local customer relationships and successfully contributed to a number of profitable tender wins.
“Despite the oil and gas downturn, my sales and marketing efforts were rewarded with an increase in social media exposure and growth, improvement in website performance, greater brand awareness and an increase in sales enquiries,” Yael said.
Yael took on her current role of Tasman Group Marketing Manager for Australia, Malaysia, New Zealand, Saudi Arabia, Singapore and the United Arab Emirates in 2019.
“I am responsible for all aspects of the Group's marketing, including marketing strategy and planning, market research analysis and intelligence, management of all aspects of social media and website updates,” she said.
Yael’s sales and marketing efforts were recognised when she was named as one of the Australian winners of CEO Today’s Business Women of the Year Awards 2019.
Her involvement in the oil and gas industry extends beyond her job, having been a member of Energy Club WA (ECWA) since 2020 and on the sponsorship committee for ECWA since March of this year.
“I enjoy meeting with colleagues from the industry, connecting with new people and staying updated with industry news,” Yael said.
Aside from her interests in sales and marketing, Yael also likes living a healthy lifestyle including participating in mindfulness, yoga, reiki, and fitness.
Yael continues to stay motivated by her children to be the best version of herself and provide them with a happy and bright future.
When she is not working, Yael enjoys catching up with friends, camping, baking birthday cakes for her children and travelling.
“Now that the international borders are open, I am planning a trip to Argentina to visit my family and friends for Christmas,” she said.
