Petroleum Club of WA rebrands after 55years
The Petroleum Club of WA Annual General Meeting was held last night, and are pleased to announce an overwhelming response to their rebrand vote. With the majority of members in favour, they will move forward with a rebrand in 2021.
The meeting was held at the ANZAC Club and chaired by the President, Colby Hauser. There were 80 members in attendance to learn of the results and to celebrate the success of the previous 12 months.
There has been talk of a name change for some time, and the members were finally able to have their say by placing their vote. Electronic voting was made available for members to have their say on the future of the club. There were two motions submitted; one proposed to change our name, and the other to update the constitution to reflect this change. There was an overwhelming response with over 70% of members voting, and over 92% in favour of the proposed changes.
Colby Hauser, President of the Petroleum Club of WA said ‘This is a fantastic outcome; this name supports the direction that our industry is moving and encompasses what we do; we connect energy professionals through networking, collaboration and education to empower their futures’.
The rebrand project has been 18 months in the making; This required valuable input from members and stakeholders, who helped to identify the need for change, and to develop a new brand for the club. The focus was to celebrate the rich history of the club while taking into consideration the direction that the industry is moving.
The Club will continue to celebrate its history as it transitions to the new brand in the coming month. The new brand will be launched at the April Networking Dinner on 22nd April.
History to the Petroleum Club of WA
The Petroleum Club of WA is an industry network and educational resource for the oil and gas sector. It is the only Petroleum Club in Australia and operates from Perth, commonly referred to as the Resource "Hub" of Australia and home to the largest industry within the largest state of Australia.
It is a membership-based organisation comprising of members from all areas of the industry and its associated service providers.
The Petroleum Club of WA was established in 1966 by a group of Explorers who believed there was a need to set up a facility that provided the opportunity for networking and information exchange. The very first official Petroleum Club Dinner meeting was held on Tuesday 10th January 1967 at the Ocean Beach Hotel at a cost of $3.00 per person. How times have changed!
Although the groundwork for the Club's establishment had been conducted almost exclusively by explorers, it was agreed that the Club membership should be expanded to include all persons who had an interest in the Oil and Gas industry, rather than be limited to geoscientists; and thus the evolution of an organisation.
The industry and organisation have continued to evolve over the years and in recent times, has started transforming at a rapid rate, bending to accommodate a shift in societal expectations. In order to invite inclusivity into the sector, and to better represent the evolution of the industry, the members have agreed to rebrand and move forward with the name change.
Join us as we honour our rich history as the Petroleum Club of WA, and celebrate our future as we officially present our new brand.
