Kate Macoboy - Deputy General Manager of Implementation, INPEX
Kate Macoboy, a seasoned professional with over 16 years of experience in the energy industry, has made significant contributions to the field. As the Deputy General Manager of Implementation at INPEX, she plays
a crucial role in ensuring the success of the Ichthys LNG project.
She has been a member of the Energy Club WA for two years and enjoys the opportunity the club gives to connect with people from all areas of the industry.
Kate studied Chemical Engineering at Adelaide University, before completing a Bachelor of Law at Charles Darwin University, demonstrating her versatility and commitment to continuous learning.
Kate’s career began with a role in Perth with Clough, where she spent four years working on the Gorgon Project, and two years on Barrow Island. Following this she joined INPEX, her current company, and has since been there for almost a decade. In her time at INPEX she has contributed significantly to their Ichthys project, supporting engineering in Houston, Texas, and overseeing construction in Korea. She is grateful for the opportunities she has had to work across a number of roles, varied project phases and in different cultural settings. The start-up of the Ichthys LNG facility enabled her to return to Perth once again.
“At INPEX I’ve had some very rewarding roles,” she notes. Recalling her time as Process Engineer, Commercial Advisor, Engineering Team Lead, Operations Planning Manager and now Deputy General Manager Implementation for Offshore Facilities and Darwin based LNG plant.
In her current role she supports the delivery of all asset implementation activities. This includes maintenance and brownfields projects for onshore and offshore facilities,
as well as the extensive subsea network.
“I remember being highly motivated by learning, and the self-satisfaction that comes from recognising you’ve mastered a new skill,” Kate recalls as she explains what
motivates her professional life.
Kate’s accomplishments extend beyond her professional life, balancing marathons, team sports, and professional achievements. Her proudest achievement?
Her ability to sustain harmony as she prioritises raising two daughters alongside her husband.
“The delicate equilibrium of motherhood and career remains an ongoing journey, one you never truly master,” Kate explains. A perfect description of the
lifestyle she has mastered as she continues to excel in the energy industry and her personal life.
