Emma Alexander - Investor Relations & Corporate Manager, Strike Energy
Emma Alexander has been a member of Energy Club WA for three years, since moving from Adelaide to Perth, and enjoys the diversity of the club.
She said it brings together people from such a wide variety of disciplines and industries beyond
just the energy industry.
Emma has been working in the energy industry for 13 years. Her career began with a strong foundation in geology. She studied Geology, Geophysics, and Environmental Geoscience at Adelaide University and joined Santos' graduate program.
During 10 years at Santos she progressed from wellsite geologist on drilling rigs across Australia to senior exploration geologist working on non-operated assets in Papua New Guinea.
In 2021, she moved to Perth to join a smaller energy company, aiming to broaden her skills and transition into investor relations.
"I felt it was an area where I could add a lot of value in communicating technical operations and results, whilst also significantly broadening my skill set into the commercial, financial and corporate space,” Emma said.
Emma works for Strike Energy, a mid-cap energy company that has evolved from an exploration-focused business to a natural gas producer, now venturing into integrated gas-to-power generation.
Strike's Gas Peaking Power project in the Mid West will provide support to renewables during the transition from coal-fired power generation in WA. Emma joined Strike in 2022 as a senior geoscientist and later was appointed Investor Relations and Corporate Manager.
Emma's role involves communicating Strike’s strategy and performance to shareholders and the broader investment community. She is involved in business
development and M&A activities, such as Strike’s acquisition of Talon Energy.
She also oversees company reporting, including the annual report and sustainability report, and has led the transformation of Strike’s ESG reporting towards
aligning with global standards.
Emma is motivated by her innovative, fast-moving, and supportive team, her supportive partner, who is also in the energy industry, and the challenge
of bridging technical expertise with commercial strategy. The support and respect from her executive team have also been significant motivators at Strike.
Outside work, Emma enjoys traveling, whether it's weekend getaways or trips back to Adelaide. She is involved with 10x10, a philanthropic non-profit supporting
grassroots social purpose organisations, fosters ex-racing greyhounds, and participates in the Energy Club’s mentoring program.
She also played high-level Aussie rules football for North Adelaide Football Club in the SANFL while maintaining a full-time job in the energy sector.
Emma is an example of the multifaceted nature of professionals in the energy sector, balancing technical expertise with corporate strategy and community involvement.
